I’m ecstatic to announce a new essay series over at Broke Ass Stuart! Broke Ass Stuart is somewhat of a local legend around these parts (as the kids say #IYKYK). I remember being a spendthrift undergraduate at San Francisco State and my roommate bringing home Broke-Ass Stuart's Guide to Living Cheaply in San Francisco one afternoon. In the days when Twitter was just a fledgling, we soon consulted Stuart’s guide daily for where to find cheap eats, free events, and more San Francisco culture spots to haunt as we were always trying to make that financial aid money stretch. While the landscape of San Francisco has shifted immensely in the last fifteen years, it’s awesome to see how Stuart Schuffman has turned his brand of misfit travel writing into a media company that “write(s) for busboys, poets, social workers, students, artists, musicians, magicians, mathematicians, maniacs, yodelers and everyone else out there who wants to enjoy life not as a rich person, but as a real person.”
This travel series will chronicle how I planned a five-week travel extensive sabbatical, across the Northern Hemisphere. Every Monday will have a new installment to check out, chock full of travel stories, adventures, and plenty of self-reflection on what it means to be a transgender human in this day and age. Huge thanks to the team over at Broke Ass Stuart for giving this story a home! You can read the first week here!
